The COVID-19 pandemic takes a great toll on the economy and lifestyles of individuals across the globe. Minority communities in Sri Lanka are at higher risks, where they face increased government set regulations and access to necessary resources. Alleged war criminal, General Shavendra (i), leads the operation of increased militarization and  converting education establishments into COVID-19 quarantine centres. This increases the risk of civilians becoming more likely to contract COVID-19. (2). Curfews set by the government also places barriers for civilians to access necessary resources for daily living which greatly impacts single income and mainly female led households  (3). 

 

Members of the Tamil diaspora across the globe organize online fundraisers with the assistance of volunteers in the homeland. Monetary donations allow volunteers to purchase necessary goods for families to survive during the lockdown(3).
